Welcome!

Hi! I’m Betsy. I’m so glad you’re here!

So often in life we find that things are generally going okay, and then all of a sudden - they’re not. This can happen with a new job, a relationship ending, the birth of a baby, a global pandemic, a personal trauma. Sometimes we realize that things weren’t actually going so great before, either. Or sometimes nothing at all happens and we find ourselves thinking… is it supposed to be this hard? Any of these situations might lead you to consider therapy.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with more than 15 years of clinical practice experience, and an additional decade of work in social service and social justice organizations. My approach to therapy is rooted in empathy, curiosity and compassion.

I work with clients who are dealing with depression, anxiety, and trauma, including complex, ongoing trauma. Other areas of speciality include:

  • infertility and miscarriage

  • pregnancy and postpartum stage

  • transition to parenthood

  • parenting challenges

  • struggles with intimacy, relationships, and sexuality

  • struggles with work-life balance

  • maladaptive perfectionism

  • intimate partner violence and relationship abuse

  • sexual assault

  • therapy for therapists and others at risk of vicarious trauma

It is my firm belief that therapy be client-centered - you are the expert on your own life! I can offer validation, connection, a space for processing emotions, and an outside perspective. Together we can work towards clarifying your goals and values, examining your history and patterns, and developing coping and communication strategies that work for you. My intent is to meet you where you are, to recognize the challenges inherent in working, parenting, dating, and living in the midst of … [gestures widely]… all of this, and to help you find a path forward that allows for and accommodates these realities.

Outside of my work as a therapist I love crafting, gardening, reading, swimming in natural bodies of water, and being in community with friends and neighbors. I also spend a LOT of time at children’s sporting events.
